Leadership Alumni Help Build a Garden at the Juvenile Detention Center

·

Generous alumni donations last December were put to work this spring at the Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center to create a garden for the residents. Many of the young people helped create the raised beds and planted flowers and vegetables plus a seating area for reading a book or relaxing. An education and garden maintenance plan has been  developed to teach the youth life skills with gardening and cooking. This project is in conjunction with the St. Tammany Master Gardening Association.  Leadership grad Christine Foster spearheaded this project and has wonderful stories to tell about how much it has been appreciated.  Thanks to all those who participated.
